The best resorts close to Innsbruck?

When looking for the best snow close to Innsbruck, look no further...

At the start of every season, the Stubaier Gletscher gets the first round of hardcore skiers and snowboarding finding their limit in the terrain park. It's a proving ground. Make sure you have some removable protection in your outerwear so you can absorb the pain. That's if you are finding your limit.

This place is guaranteed to be covered in the white stuff. This is one of our favorites out of Innsbruck. Not the closest, but its the best. We can dig a bit deeper.

There is a bus that takes you directly to the mountain from multiple locations within Innsbruck, so be sure to ask your hotel. How long is the ride to Stubaier Gletscher? Well, it's can take around 45min, good on the way back if you got some booze and start the Apres early! This is well worth the trip if you are looking for a place where you can explore for a week and not be bored.

There is some really good off piste, but as always be careful as you may have to do some trekking to get yourself back to the lifts. Any experienced powderhound would know, it's well worth the heartache. Most times.

If you are also into terrain parks, the glacier has most of what you would need for a beginner to intermediate. Ther are massive jumps being formed all the time, so we are sure there will be something to whet the appetite if you like getting big air. These are at the top of the mountain. The only downside here, is you have to get a T-Bar out.

Once the day is done, you have the option of getting back on the bus you came up on; this is if you got the free ones provided from in town. If you have decided to come back early, or you have hit a jump you shouldn't have and blown out a knee and need to return. There are busses that come throughout the day that you will have to pay for to get back into town. About seven euros.

In summary, a great mountain. Most of the terrain is suited towards intermediate to advanced riders. If you are looking to learn, not a good place to start. Enjoy trendsetters.
